About Adventures

The Adventures program is designed for children in grades 1-4 to help them develop a Christ-like character and learn about God's love through nature, crafts, and activities. This ministry serves as an introduction to the wider world of Pathfinders.

Through a progressive class system, children earn badges and awards as they complete requirements in areas such as nature, recreation, spiritual growth, and health. The program emphasizes the development of the whole child - physically, mentally, socially, and spiritually.

Objectives

• Develop a personal relationship with Jesus Christ
• Learn about God's creation through nature activities
• Develop physical, mental, and social skills
• Foster a spirit of teamwork and cooperation
• Instill values of service and community involvement
• Prepare children for transition to Pathfinders

Uniform Information

The Adventures uniform consists of a blue shirt with the Adventures logo and navy blue pants/skirt. The complete uniform includes:

Investiture Ceremony

The Investiture Ceremony is a special event where Adventures members officially receive their uniforms and are welcomed into the club. During this ceremony:

• Members pledge to follow the Adventures Law and Pledge
• Uniforms are formally presented and blessed
• Members receive their class insignia
• Parents and church leaders participate in the ceremony
• A special prayer of dedication is offered for each member

This ceremony typically takes place at the beginning of the Adventurers year and marks the official start of the member's journey in the club.

About Pathfinders

The Pathfinder Club is a church-centered spiritual-recreational program for young people in grades 5-10, designed to support parents and church in guiding children into a loving, serving relationship with Jesus Christ.

Pathfinders offers a wide range of activities including camping, community service, crafts, and honors that help develop important life skills and spiritual growth. The program is built on the philosophy that young people learn best by doing.

Pathfinder Pledge & Law

Pledge: By the grace of God, I will be pure, kind, and true. I will keep the Pathfinder Law. I will be a servant of God and a friend to man.

Law: The Pathfinder Law is for me to:
- Keep the morning watch
- Do my honest part
- Care for my body
- Keep a level eye
- Be courteous and obedient
- Walk softly in the sanctuary

Pathfinder Investiture is a significant ceremony where members progress through classes and receive recognition for their achievements:

• Companion: Building on foundational skills and spiritual growth
• Explorer: Developing leadership and outdoor skills
• Ranger: Advanced skills and community service focus
• Voyager: Leadership training and mentorship roles

Each advancement includes a special ceremony where members receive their new insignia and make commitments to continue growing in their Pathfinder journey.

Ambassadors serve as role models and mentors for younger members while developing their own leadership skills through various ministry opportunities. The program emphasizes practical application of Christian principles in daily life.

Our History

The Matero Main Adventist Youth Ministry was established in 1985 with a small group of dedicated young people. Over the years, our ministry has grown to become one of the most active youth programs in the Lusaka Conference.

Key milestones in our history:

• 1985: Youth ministry officially established with 15 members
• 1992: Pathfinder Club launched with initial enrollment of 25 pathfinders
• 1998: First youth-led evangelistic series conducted in the community
• 2005: Adventures program introduced for younger children
• 2012: Ambassadors program established for older youth
• 2019: Youth center construction completed
• 2023: Young Adult Ministry launched to serve professionals
• 2025: Record participation with over 150 active youth members
